Death of a plastic . . .

Professor Marc Hillmyer, director of the University of Minnesota-based Center for Sustainable Polymers, is featured in an Aug. 6 New York Times article, "Designing the Death of a Plastic." It's a great article on how scientists are working to unzip polymers to make them chemically recyclable. Professor Hillmyer highlights research on recyclable polyurethane. He also was interviewed on the Paul & Jordana Show on WCCO.

Annual Safety Event, Aug. 15

The Joint Safety Team's annual safety event will cover three safety issues encountered in the laboratory—toxicity, flammability, and reactivity. The event will also feature Ecolab and Sherwin-Williams.

Chemistry Catalyst 2018, Aug. 30

The annual Chemistry Catalyst at the Minnehaha Falls pavilion is open to all chemistry personnel, including graduate students, undergraduate researchers, visiting researchers, post-doctoral researchers, staff, and faculty. Families are welcome. Please RSVP and volunteer.
