Polymer Synthesis Facility
Polymer synthesis continues to be a major theme in the departments of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering & Materials Science at the University of Minnesota.
Model homopolymers, copolymers, and multicomponent materials with an array of molecular architectures are routinely produced using a wide variety of modern synthetic methodologies. The Polymer Synthesis Facility (PSF), an External Sales Organization at the University of Minnesota, was established to prepare such interesting samples on scales useful for further evaluation and provide them to academic and industrial institutions through contract sales arrangements.
The PSF originally received start-up funds from the Center for Interfacial Engineering, an Engineering Research Center (ERC) funded by the National Science Foundation, and the University of Minnesota Materials Research and Engineering Center. The PSF currently operates out of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Minnesota.
Any sale from the PSF requires the execution of an agreement between the University of Minnesota and the purchasing institution. A sample contract is available upon request.
